Here is a recipe for Angel Food Candy. It is also known as Fairy Food or Sponge Candy. This is one of my favorites that my mother in law used to make. You can dip it in milk chocolate or dark chocolate. This is a perfect holiday candy.
1 c. sugar
1 c. dark corn syrup
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. baking soda
Milk or Dark Chocolate
Mix sugar, syrup and vinegar in a large saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar melts.
Once sugar is melted continue to cook without stirring, until candy reaches 300 degrees.
Remove from heat and quickly stir in baking soda.
Pour into buttered 9 x 9 inch for thicker pieces or 9 x 13 inch pan if you rather thinner pieces.
No need to spread the candy it will spread itself.
Do not move pan.
Once it is cooled break into pieces.
When you candy is cooling melt you chocolate in a saucepan.
When your candy is cooled and in pieces dip into chocolate.
Place on a sheet of wax paper.
Once the chocolate covering is cooler, then store in air tight containers.
