This is to let you know that my gift basket was received Wednesday or Thursday of last week. I can't begin to tell you how much I am enjoying it! I talked with my brother,about this gift basket that he sent to me. We went on about the memories it brought back about walking to the neighborhood grocery store and buying a nickle's worth of penny candy in the brown paper bag. We thought we were rich with that bag full of candy! The candy cigarettes, the dots on the paper sheet, the soda bottles with the drink, the Black Jack gum (do you carry the Clove gum?). What about the circle of black licorice with the candy dot in the middle - I can't remember what they were called. How about Pixie sticks with the sugary koolaid in them? You'd rip the end off and pour the powder in your mouth. What about red waxed lips or the black mustache. Growing up in the 50's, these are some of the things I remember most. It is truly amazing what simple little pleasures stay with you after all these years. Even my 24 year old son had fun going through the basket. Thank you so very much and keep up the good work!

“A Memory in a Memory”
There’s nothing like watching grown adults act like kids again.
I will never forget an experience from about 15 years ago, when I gave my secretaries “Remember When” baskets for Secretaries Day.
Each basket contained about 25 pieces of nostalgic candy that these ladies would have treasured as children. Each basket contained such items as
candy cigarettes, candy necklaces and bracelets, Mary Janes, licorice pipes, candy lipsticks, and less we forget, the ever memorable, wax lips.
As each secretary dug through their basket, their shrills and laughter became louder and louder as they re-discovered their childhood. And, they
didn’t just look at these items, they experienced them. Just like little girls, they were busy adorning their bodies with the candy necklaces and bracelets, “smoking” the candy
cigarettes, giving each other makeovers with the candy lipstick, and, making the commitment to wear the wax lips for entire day, much to the confusion
of clueless co-workers and customers who walked past with bewildered expressions on their faces, wondering why grown women would be wearing wax lips.
Working in an office day after day can be very mundane, stressful, and filled with more days that you would rather forget then remember.
However, the day of the “Remember When” baskets will stay in my memory and my secretaries memories forever.
I hope that you will enjoy my story of a “favorite candy memory” as much as I enjoyed sharing it.
