Feeling Nostalgic About……Candy?
Yes, candy! Come on, when was the last time you had a big wad of Bazooka Bubble Gum in your mouth and your pocket full of the Bazooka Joe comics the gum was wrapped in? Or how many times did you and your friend’s see who could keep a Lemonhead in their mouth the longest?
Remember when candy, along with the actual trip to the candy store, was a huge treat? The old man behind the counter was so patient, waiting for you to make up your mind. After all, those pennies were precious and you had to be absolutely sure you were making the right choice. And, sometimes, just maybe, if you were having a really hard time deciding which one to get, he would slip a little of both into your bag.
Everyone knows why that era is considered the “good ole days”. What could be better than a sock hop, a trip to the malt shop with friends and a bag full of Red Hots, Necco Wafers and Red Vines? So, the next time you are planning a get-together, why not make it a “Retro” party with door prizes like Slinky’s and those candy necklaces.
