Easter baskets have played a huge role in Easter traditions. According to the Eater legends it was customary to fill baskets for early seedling and give them to the fertility goddess in hopes for a good harvest. The goddess would carry a basket of eggs to signify new life.

Giving Easter baskets to children was started many years ago in central and Eastern Europe. These baskets were introduced to the USA in the early 18th century by the German settlers. The story was that a white hare would leave baskets full of candy and dyed eggs on the doorsteps for the children to find Easter morning. Through out the centuries traditions changed slightly. The white hare became the Easter Bunny and baskets have been hidden for Children to find.

In earlier years not only would you find candy and eggs in your basket, but also an Easter bonnet. Today baskets are filled with many sweet treats; the most popular are chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, eggs and small toys.
