Marshmallow Candy Memories

I remember chewing around the outside of the satellite wafers and eating the candy balls inside. We then pretended we were at church and used the outside as the “host”. I’m grown now and have a grown daughter of my own. As a child she love the satellite wafers-along with other old fashioned candy.

For her 28th birthday in December I searched the internet to find the satellite candy for her. (I found O’Ryans! Yeah!) She said it was one of the best gifts I’ve ever given her. (By the way, at the same time I found the ice cream cone candy for my 86 year old mother-in-law. She told me she loved the gift. She ate two boxes, and wanted more. What a great way to get on the good side of the mother-in-law.)

My daughter had a wedding shower last Saturday. I bagged the old-fashioned candy-satellites, ice cream cones, candy buttons, bull’s eyes, waxed bottles, pixie sticks and sixlets in a cellophane bag and tied it with ribbon. It was a huge hit. I explained to everyone that Michelle’s favorite candies were in the bag. (I’m allergic to mint so the butter mints and peanuts that is usually at showers was not even an option for me.) Everyone was talking about their memories of the candy. It was one of the highlights of the entire shower. I’ve been asked where did I find the candy and gave the O’Ryans link to whomever wanted it.

Thanks for making my daughter’s wedding shower a hit. ( I will do the same for her baby shower.)
